Memories of Lucy
My dearest Lucy,
We remember when you first came into this world, August 18, 1997. We tell people that we've had you since conception.
We watched Molly in labor while you came into this world. We weren't suppose to keep you. You see, we already had 3 dogs. But, your mommy insisted on keeping the cutest one, that was you. She already named you Lucy, and I like the name. There was no way you were going to leave this family.
You were the best rabbit hunting dog I've ever had. We had so much fun hunting together.
You were fast and skilled.
I have missed you so much this hunting season (2009) that it was too painful to even go.
You also had another skill, you were the best escape artist we've ever had. I don't know how many times we had to roam the neighborhood looking for you. Sometimes in the middle of the night in deep snow. You were always looking for that rabbit. You never did go very far so we always brought you home safely.
I remember those evenings when you layed with me on the couch and I gave you belly rubs. You sure loved your belly rubs, you could lay there for hours with me.
Thank you for sending Ruby to us. We know it was you that sent her to me to help heal my broken heart. She's going to be a good hunter too, because we know that's what you wanted daddy to have.
Say hi to Rex, Margo, Arnie, Cleo, Molly and Eric. Have fun romping with all of them in heaven.
You will always have a place in my heart, we miss you so much! Love, your mommy and daddy.
