On April 6th of this year, I took my baby Sylvester to the vet because he had an excess amount of sleep coming out of his left eye. The vet said that it looked like he had scratched his cornea. I decided to have him nutered so while he was to be under, the vet was going to fix his eye. Anyway, I authorized a flv test for him. Later that day, I went to work. I called my mom from work and she told me that Sylvester had turned out positive and had to be put to sleep. The next day, we took our other cats (12 in all) in for testing and 7 more (Billy, Mittens, Sleepy, Fred, Amora, Natasha, and Christmas Star) were positive, so they had to be put to sleep. The vet said that we had to wait 6 weeks to retest the other 5. I had found an abandoned cat at work two days ago, I just couldn't leave her there because I work in a warehouse and there are forklifts, semis, and trash compactors there. So I brung her home, named her Bubbles (yes-the powerpuff girl), and kept her isolated from the others. Anyway, today was "The Day" the day we found out weather or not they were negative or positive. Well, we got the best news we've had in awhile, they were ALL negative, even Bubbles!!! So, they all had vaccanations and have to go back in 3 weeks for boosters. The point I am trying to make here is as soon as possible, get your cats tested for flv and vaccanated againsted all feline diseases because if you don't you might learn the hard way like we did, we lost 8 of our babies in 2 days and that is a pain that will never go away.
