Please Forgive Me
by hollye abel.........................................
Lonesome when I met you, you had been with your papa for 12 yrs. I became your mama 1 yr. later. At 13 you were still energetic. Never tiring of play, chasing ball's or stick's we threw in the river.
You became my friend, confidant & protector. I was never afraid when your papa was working late or if I had to go somewhere at night, because you were there. I was amazed at how smart you were. Lonie you always knew when we were talking about camping or river trip's, when we were bragging about you. The three of us had some really great time's. I never thought of a time without you.
Then came the time when we would only play occaisonally. That was fine too. You still loved having your ear's scratched & your tummy rubs, and your scooby snacks. Still I thought you alway's be with your papa &me. Then our world crashed in we knew you would have to leave us someday. That day came Lonesome. I took you for your last car ride, yourode with your head out the window, your face so happy. Lonesome please forgive me. You & I lay on your blanket in the car. I stroked your fur, told you that papa & mama loved you & that we would go home soon. You looked at me with love &trust, licked the tear's from my face.THEN YOU WERE GONE.
I did take you home &buried you in your blanket with your orange football &a teddybear.I know you are not in painor sick anymore, but papa & I miss.
Lonesome I hope you can forgive me & that you still love me. BECAUSE I CAN NOT FORGIVE MYSELF.
