They memories are golden, maybe that is true.
But I never though of having memories, I only thought of having you.
The best 12 years of my life were each day I spend with you.
Countless hours of tug-a-war I remember how you won each time
Sleepless nights fighting for room on the bed
You were stubborn & wouldn't move an inch!
I'll never forget how full of life you were.
Or the sound of you "speaking" as I walked through the door.
The light in your eyes, or how you ran so awkwardly
When you wanted to bring me a prize!
The best 12 years of my life were each day I spend with you
Every camping trip sleeping in a ten with 135 pounds of love!
Boat rides turned into a dare devil stunt.

I'll never forget your shinny black & white coat
Or how it brought me such comfort
When I would nuzzle up to you for love or to shed a tear.
Your sweet brown eyes filled with such loyalty and love with each locking look.
Your big curly tail that would hit so hard with love!
The best 12 years of my life were each day I spent with you
Every time you ran away & caused such mayhem with those chickens you loved to chase!
All the bruises from being swept off my feet by your jumps that put you at 6 feet!
I'll never forget how dedicated you were or how much you truly cared.
I'll never forgot how strong you were
When your steps became weaker & your muzzle got greyer.
The best 12 years of my life were each day I spent with you
I loved you dearly with every moment of each day of those 12 years & in death I love you still.
Within my heart you hold a place which can never be replaced.
You gave me the best last year of your life bit the cancer was too much for both of us to bear.
If my tears could build a stairway to heaven I'd bring you home again.
So maybe what they is true because you gave me the best 12 years of my life.
But the best memories that would last a lifetime
