lost with out our Spikey
by Bob and Janet Wordsworth
03-11-04 My dog Spike is half Jack russell terrior and mix. I have had him since he was a pup. When he was thrown out of a car door, then slammed across the road intentially by the previous owner with the car door. I scooped up this poor little doggy, put him in my work truck and told him he had found a new home, and that I was going to take good care of him.My dog Spike is the most favorite animal I have ever known and soon I may loose him. At 12 years old Spike is riddled with arthritis, has a serious dry skin condition, and has a thyroid problem with his 25+ pounds. All of these problems are being seen under by my dogs vet. Last night Spike fell off my daughters (over knee high)bed. Then this morning was like the straw that broke the camels back.My fiance' and I heard a thud in the living room, Spike fell off of the couch, so we took Spike immediatly to the vet and he was seen promptly with NO GOOD news. Spike has a Mass TUMOR at his anal region and had diareah this morning, and when we took him to the vet his hind quarters were a mess. We were not aware until the vet was checking him over because we were more concerned about loosing him or him having a possible broken leg. Poor little Spikey could hardly walk and all we could do was watch as the doc had to put a muzzle on him because of the pain he was in. He has torn liggaments and needs a biopsey done on the tumor. We are very worried about Spike and don't know how to tell the two girls when they get home from school in a couple of hours. Our kids grew up with Spike since birth, But we want them to know just in case we have to put him out his miserey. I am a wreck walking around lost with out my Spikey while my fiance' writes this story for me. If any one wants to respond, please feel free to at RFW442@CS.COM - We are waiting to hear from anyone who loves pets as we love ours.Sincerely- Bob and Janet-Lost with out our Spikey in Ct.
