Mo Mo cried
by MaryAnne Wilson-Premeaux
Mo Mo is my 16 year old Tabby who was born in Germany. She and I shared our home with 3 other pets; an 9 year old black cat named Shakey; a 12 year old Border Collie named Cleo; and a 3 year old Ringneck Parrot named KaySee. On November 20th we had a visit to the vet because Shakey was sick and so it seemed was Cleo. We were told that Shakey would have only a few weeks, and Cleo only a few months. We brought them both home to be with family and I called all the kids to make certain to come visit soon. Two days later on November 22nd Shakey died. We managed somehow to get through Thanksgiving and Christmas and saw in the New Year, but Cleo was going downhill fast. Saturday, January 11th Cleo also passed on. I was pretty wrapped up in my own emotions for a few minutes, but then I happened to look over at my couch and saw Mo Mo curled up in a tight little ball. I went and picked her up and she laid her little head on my shoulder. I was talking to my mother when I suddenly realized there was something dripping on my arm. I looked down and saw my sleeve all wet. I moved Mo Mo to where I could see her better. Sure enough that little kitty had tears just rolling out of her little eyes. I had seen dogs cry tears before, but had never heard of a cat doing so. I realized rather guiltily that I had been so wrapped up in my now grief that I had not even noticed how my beloved Tabby was feeling. We went together and got the bird, then went and laid down together in my bed. After some time she finally began to purr. I held her close for the longest time, then we all drifted off to sleep together. I have promised my baby that I will leave myself totally to her (and of course KaySee) for a while and until she and I BOTH can get through our grief. Thankfully the bird has more than enough antics to make us smile. God bless my two loves in Heaven, and God bless my two sweet loves still here on Earth.
