Angel Without Wings
By Jerri Wethington
There is now an angel in the heavens up above
This angel has fur and a cold wet nose to love.
He watches over me as he did here on earth
And sends me doggie kisses, more than gold they are worth.
He left for Rainbow Bridge some time ago
And now has friends to play with he quickly got to know.
He delights them with his singing, he was always fond of that.
Hed sing his song to anyone, even the neighbors cat.
I miss him by my side each day as I go through this grief
But he was so sick before he left, I know hes found relief.
He lost his sight a year before, no longer could he run
But now Im sure he romps and plays, his days are full of fun.
And each day that passes brings us closer once more
For Jesus will hold my hand to take me to that shore.
And there you might be playing and showing off, I know
But then youll sense, you will stop, and your eyes will start to glow.
As memories come flooding back of times we had together
Youll know the bond that we once shared your death could not sever.
And I will watch as you run up to me, your beauty still intact
Our love that God so blessed us with is more than thought. but fact.
I will once again kiss your face and hold you in my arms.
I will rub your head and play with you and delight in your charms.
God is a God of love you see, and dogs are angels without out wings
He gave them fur and a cold wet nose and so many other things.
And Jesus made promises of the heaven he prepares
Where all his children will someday live, a place without cares.
So be patient, my boy, though my days are long
Well be together once more to sing your favorite song.
