In my heart you'll always stay,
Never again to go away.
When my heart was dark with loneliness and despair,
Spending time with you brought back the light of happiness.
With your head in my lap we would talk,
On a sunny day we used to walk.
Your joyful barks greeted me at the door,
And I knew you must have been bored.
Till you were gone I didn't see,
How very dear you were to me.
I know you are now free from pain and alarm,
Safe in the Savior's arms.
When at last we meet again,
I'll be ready to play catch and tug of war, if you promise to let me hug you first.
You're in my heart, Darling Jake, always to stay,
Never again to go away.
