I lost Gabrielle yesterday. She was 13 1/2 years old, but it was very sudden- she had a stroke, and I had to put her to sleep- I held her as she died, whispering "I love you" over and over. I've had her since she was 10 weeks old- I will never forget the moment I saw her in a cage at the animal shelter so many years ago- she put her paw up on the cage- I touched her, and knew we belonged together. My life with Gabrielle has been nothing but pure love, devotion and friendship- she was the kindest, most gentle creature I have ever known. I can't believe she's gone- the house is so empty without her- I keep thinking that I see her in all her usual spots. I will miss her forever- Gabrielle, you're the best, baby. I'll see you again someday, my sweet angel.
