A peculiar site once crossed Dee Street.
A slinky furball on his feet.
I stopped my car to see it clear.
And there you were, my Oscar dear.
I took you home that August day.
And all you did was romp and play.
You licked my cheek and then I knew.
I found a special home for you.
You brought me sunshine all the time.
That sweet face was my valentine.
You closed your eyes for thank you kisses.
"Cheerios and raisins!? How delicious!"
Your favorite hiding place was clear.
A picnic basket says "I'm in here".
You loved to sleep and snuggle too.
A true companion through and through.
You even shared your love with others.
When Felix came...your little brother.
The two of you were the "Odd Couple".
Oscar and Felix meant double trouble.
But still you stayed my baby boy.
A godly creature who brought me joy.
For five long years I loved you so.
How hard it was to let you go.
I think of you and hope you know.
My love for you will only grow.
I held you 'til the very end.
To let you know you were my friend.
Your passing was not easy, dear.
To know you're gone does bring a tear.
But in my heart you'll always be.
My little shadow, Oscar T.
