On October 13, 2002, I met the most wonderful woman named Melanie. Like me, Melanie was an animal lover. I had my two Rottweilers and a miniature poodle and she had her two Labs and three cats. I knew we were made for each other. Her Labs took to me pretty quickly, which she said was kind of odd. I'm sorry, but I'm an animal lover. She had one baby that she gave, maybe just a bit more attention, that the others. We all have our favorites I guess. This precious babies name was Kitty. Maybe a bit of a strange name for a Black Lab, but who cares. Melanie got Kitty after her painful divorce. She thought having a little puppy around the house would help lift her spirits. Puppies do have that kind of effect on people.
Miss Kitty, as I called her, was the most loveable dog in the world. She was happy to be around anybody that would show her just the smallest amount of attention. Kitty had a way with making human friends. Like trying to be a 100 pound lap dog, or doing the head-butt with you, or just acting like a silly little child in front of you. She was a real clown with a one-in-a-million personality. She was a four-legged angel, and she loved people. The qualities that she possessed will forever be stuck in my mind.
Just as we are all given life to enjoy, that life must be taken away. On April 3, 2004, Miss Kitty passed on. Never again will we hear her little, "lets play" growl, or feel her head-butt us in the morning when she needs to go "outside". No more fetching the stick at the lake or the beach. And most of all, no more just being a silly little girl. Baby girl, we miss you! You will be sorely missed, but you will never be forgotten. Mommy and Daddy love you.
