Shanti Girl

SHANTI

Shanti, sweet Shanti
The joy and delight
You brought to our lives
Fifteen years -- day and night

'94 was the year
It was May and so sunny
The Fergies now had
Two cool cats and one bunny

One day, Sue and Kathy
To PACC, they did roam
In search of a puppy
That might need a home

There you were Shanti
In the corner you huddled
Looking lost and forlorn
In need of a cuddle

You were so shy and timid
And a bit scared of guys
With golden brown fur
Floppy ears, chocolate eyes

An armful of love
And a big happy smile
Just 11 weeks old
You came home in style

Snowie and Casper were mad
They were smart and they knew
Dad would be most unhappy
If you started to chew

Though you ate bills and our glasses
Yes --those cats set you up
We had to forgive you
Our most wonderful pup

You loved to go camping
Though you ripped up our tent
But our best travel buddy
So camping you went!

You were quite the runner,
When you were a pup
And walks were the passion
That you never gave up

Your most favorite vacations
Were the beach ones, by far
You drooled with excitement
When we got in the car

Once on the beach
You were always in motion
And loved swimming through waves
With the kids in the ocean

Kate and Keith loved the playground
Shanti - YOU loved the slides
And Dad's Dairy Queen treats
And riding right by his side

Our furry-faced family
grew - more mutts to hug
There was big-hearted Xena
And Milky-the-Pug

Later came Voo-Doo
And then PJ -- oh no!
Not a moment of peace
Would you ever now know.

Mommy's girl --yes you were
When she'd travel, you'd sigh
And look at the luggage
With sad mournful eyes

Time passes too quickly
One day you were gone
Our hearts felt so broken
When we knew you moved on

In that heavenly place
You can see, hear and run
You can swim and eat ice cream
You can jump and have fun

Xena, Casper and Snowie
Zilla, Thumper and Bear
Simon, Penny & Knucklehead
Play with you there

Shanti, sweet Shanti
Soft fur and brown eyes
We'll love you forever
For now, girl, goodbye...

Love,
Your Mom
