Lily “Lil’s MaGee”

Lily "Lil's MaGee"

Three years have since passed since I first saw this lass
The sweetest girl of the land
I said to myself, there is room in my heart, to love this girl they call Lily

So I begged and I borrowed and I waited and wished
Then one day I got the call

Mrs. Kilpatrick they said
Although very sick, can you help this sweet little girl?

I said yes of course, no matter the cost,
What ever she needs would be done.

So the rescue people dropped her off
And we both hit it off
Me and this girl they called Lily

I knew in my heart, it would be a tough shot
Cause she had such a rough doggie life

So I pampered and loved her and gave her lots of treats
But soon it was daddy who she loved... how sweet

She'd sleep all day long, but when dad came along, Lily would shine with such glee
She'd follow and chase him, and run back and forth, this girl we called Lil's MaGee.

One day she got sick and I said to her Doc
The medicine won't work and she can't talk or walk

The pictures we dread said soon she'd be dead, and that we had one of two choices
Leave it to fate, or we could operate
But no matter the choice she won't make it

So we gave her to God
And then with a nod
Our Lily was gone just like that.

I know in my life I helped one sweet little girl
Who came into my life with a whirl and a twirl
She loved to play ball and played fetch with the stick
My heart is now broken and bleeding and sick

I love this girl they called Lily, my Lil Lil's MaGee
But now she's in heaven with her sissy Sadie.

Sometimes we make choices we don't want to make
But the love that she gave us, death can not break.
