Chester
by Andrea Springer
Dear Chester, I can't believe the time has finally come to say good-bye. It seems like yesterday that we brought you home. I was 18 years old then and loved this little puppy. Our previous dog, Chelsey, had died recently and we were grief-stricken. You gave us the hope that we would be happy again. I've loved you so much. I remember how sad you were when I left for college. You were always so happy when I came home to visit. I remember crying into your fur on numerous occasions - when my love life went sour (more than once, lol) or when I just had a bad day. You were so intuitive and wouldn't leave my sad when I was upset. You sure were a spunky dog! Bossy, yet so loving. You were there when I left an abusive relationship, staying by my side. You were there when I met my husband - I always trusted your judgment and I knew when you latched onto that he was a keeper. And you were there for the death of my first child, my son, Nicolas. And you were there when my mom (and your mom too) was diagnosed with cancer - and luckily, you were there when she beat that awful disease. Thank you, Chester, for taking care of us. Please take care of my son, until we can all be together again. Love always, Andrea
