Some people are coming to get me today
And I'm going to a brand-new home.
Today I leave all my brothers and sisters,
I know I'm going to feel so alone.
There are people walking toward me,
Now two big hands reach down for me.
I try to wiggle and get away,
Why won't they just let me be?
The man puts me in his lap,
Then pats my head and hugs me tight.
Soon I go to sleep exhausted,
I'm just to little to give much fight.
When I wake I'm in a strange place,
I'm so hungry and moms not here.
Then he brings me a bowl of warm food,
He is much nicer than he appeared.
I wonder how long I have been here?
Can't wait for my Master to come out of the door.
We'll play ball and I'll run for hours,
Then follow my Master while he does his chores.
He always calls me Sassy Pants,
Especially if I've done something bad.
It hurts my feelings when I get scolded,
Then I can't play because I'm so sad.
Something is wrong with my Master,
He's not around as much as before.
A new person is taking me away,
My Master cries as he looks out the door.
This time it is going to be a lot harder,
My Old Master is always on my mind.
These new people have been very nice,
But I'll be sad for a very long time.
I wonder how long I have been here?
Can't wait for my Master to take me outside.
We'll play ball then come in and take a nap,
Maybe later we'll go for a ride.
Sometimes when I am sleeping,
I have dreams of my Old Master that I loved.
I was worried that he might miss me,
Until the angels said, "He watches from above."
My Master calls me Sassy Pants,
But now I'm good as I can be.
I know I'll be here for a very long time,
Until my Old Master comes to get me.
