Max, Our Wonderful Friend. By Sarah and Anne D

The hardest thing that could have ever happened to us was losing our best friend. We first got him as a 9 week old puppy. He traveled all the way from Florida to Virginia just to be with us. When I took him out of the truck the first thing he did was give me a "Hello" by peeing on me. One of his siblings came to visit too. She was just as cute and energetic as he was. It was so much fun having two puppies to play with. I also remember my cat who didnt like other animals, meeting him for the first time. We put the two of them together and the cat went crazy, he jumped about 5 feet in the air hissed at him and hid under my legs. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. He was a wonderful puppy, despite all the shoes and cords he chewed up. He would have been 2 in September, only he decided to leave us just a little bit sooner.

He loved water, especially from the hose and he made us laugh every time he "attacked" the water. When he was 10 months old we took him to the beach ... never again. He swallowed too much water and it upset his stomach a little. I had a very hard time catching up with him and I was running back and forth trying to keep up with him. He was great at catching frisbees. He dug many holes in our back yard, which now looks like a mess. He also loved people and other dogs and loved to give kisses.

We decided that because he seemed a little lonely we would get a puppy so that he wouldnt be lonely anymore... and so we did in January. A beautiful little 7 week old yellow lab puppy.
