I lost my soul mate almost eight years ago. He was suppose to be my daughter's dog, but he became attached to me. We walked through some difficult times together, just Mathis Lee and me. His love was unconditional and he was totally devoted to me.
Two years ago, on my birthday, I was in our bedroom watching television. I was waiting for the rest of my family to get home so we could go out and celebrate. I suddenly thought I heard a noise under the bed. It was a thumping noise, as if an animal were moving around. Mathis Lee loved to sleep under our bed and he would thump. I knew that it was not our other dog because he was being boarded. At first, it really startled me. I was not sure how to deal with it.
I called my husband to see how close they were to the house. Suddenly, I felt a sense of calm come over me. I thought, how sweet, Mathis Lee came back to visit because it was my birthday.
That Christmas, I had our shih tzu in the living room. It was Christmas Eve. All of a sudden, our shih tzu jumped off the couch and started running around through the kitchen and dining room. It was as if he was chasing something or someone. Mathis Lee had always enjoyed playing "Catch a Puppy". We would say that phrase and he would take off through the house. We could never get Mathis Starrett interested in the game, yet suddenly he was playing like a pro.
I have come to the conclusion that Mathis Lee does,in fact return at times to check on things. At first it was a little scary, but now I just pass it off and think Mathis Lee just wanted to visit for a while. I welcome his presence.
Look and listen for subtle events. They will let you know that they are still with you.
