Sweet Skeeter
by Pam Ralston
Skeeter was the sweetest cat ever!(she was 7 years old)..she loved her little toy mice & would put them in my purse & even put one in my friend's suitcase as she was packing to go home...Skeeter did not have a tail (not manx)..she had himalayan markings, with long white fur...she loved to touch your hand or face softly with her paw, & would fall asleep next to you that way...she never fussed or whined, but did chatter alot! 2 years ago, her spine collapsed, cutting off all of her lower GI functions...she had no feeling & no control over bowels or bladder..thus, my house was decorated in towels, sheets & blankets..my vet has always commended me on my patience & love for her...she had to have meds at night & kept in a separate room...she was the love of my life & I miss her terribly...on November 21, 2002..I came home from work & thought she was in her usual hiding places, or slipped outside. I called her, told her I was eating dinner & she was missing out (she always had to sit by me while I ate)..I looked all over for her & found her under my bed, comatose, cold & barely breathing. On November 22, 2002 I rushed her to the vets & left her in their very capable hands...Dr. called me, explained she had a liver disease & it would cost 300.00 to have a specialist examine her...they had already taken x-rays & couldn't tell me if they would be able to treat the liver or not....Skeeter never regained conciousness, but her wonderful vet team was with her when she was put down...they had been with her thru it all (& with me!)...I have another cat from the same mother as Skeeter (her name is Sally) & she is also tail-less & markings of a ragdoll himalayan...her & Skeeter ate, slept & played together, & Sally seems sad & misses her, too...eventually I will get another kitten...I have 4 feral cats in my yard that someone ditched, I trapped them & had the feral cat coalition spay them (they were all females & all were pregnant!) so I am feeding them..don't want to get overwhelmed! Sooo, Skeeter...you saw me thru thick & thin, relationships & heartaches..Thanks for your love..there will NEVER be another sweet one like you!!
