Peeking over the end of mum and dad's bed
Is when I first saw your sweet little head
A new-born baby boy, brown and so small
You were by far the cutest one of all

I named you Chewbacca right then and there
Not really knowing all of the great times we would share
Always with me, since I was nine
My special little man for all of time

All the days spent together, we had an amazing bond
I miss you so much, can't believe that you're gone
The memories of special moments we've shared
Will stay safe in my heart, forever there

It was terribly hard for me to say good-bye
To my best little friend, I keep wondering why
I'm so happy we shared thirteen great years
I will try to keep smiling through all of my tears

Your illness came fast but you were brave and you did your very best
I was thankful to be there, comforting you, as you took your final breath
Holding your fragile body for the very last time
You were ready to be set free, to cross over the line

It was a wonderful journey, but the sun has now set
Our beautiful friendship I will never forget
I cherish the thought of being reunited one day
To howl and snuggle, to walk, run and play

I thank you, my darling friend, for giving me so much of your pure love

Chewbacca(13 yrs) had to be put to rest because of cancer of the mouth about 9 months ago and his just-as-special mother, Lady(18 yrs), was released from her suffering about 4 months ago.
