Unsteady grounds in a life without voice
Existence in our hands and you have no choice
Our thoughts make up where you stand
Whether you survive or journey off this land
In our eyes we think we see
How to unlock your mind, we think weve found the key
Inside you theres a complex story
Of your true faith and intelligent glory
You cannot speak your mind
And you are sacrificed to human kind
For in your silent pleads for help
All that escapes is a bark and a yelp
If only you could open up to us
If only you could sit us down to discuss
We would take pity and pride
In living with canines by our side
We are lost
And you suffer the cost
Because we are impatient and confused
Your buddies get beat up and bruised
And in our heartless acts
We overlook the facts
So many who are lost reunite with a smile
So many alone have a friend for awhile
It is never enough for us to love and adore
We need to open our hearts, and open the door
Invite you in for food and care
Take you for walks and untangle your hair
So many are gone for reasons unknown
Why couldnt we just accept and open our home?...
Too many lives were taken
For accidents so mistaken
Too many souls were beat
Too many cold, tired feet.
We had enough nerve to betray
Now theyre carrying your body away
