Once upon a time you played together...
Cuddled close in very cold weather
You were his whole life...
He bowed to your every strut and strife
You once raced through a meadow...
He waits for your return by the window
His gentle heart...
You were never apart
He was with you in you home...
Right by your side, you were never alone
He was never out of your sight...
He was always there to spread the light
You were his master...
He was your encouragement to push yourself faster
A bond never to be broken...
No harsh words ever to be spoken
In bad times he was always there...
Letting you run your fingers through his hair
He was always a peaceful soul...
Waiting for you to refill his bowl
Strong in body, loyal in mind...
His species better then all of human kind
But he's been swept away...
Never again to see the light of day
You will never hear him bark...
Or go for walks through the park
You lost a great piece of your heart...
The day you and your best fiend had to part
Wagging tail and droopy eyes...
Forever to float across the skies
A life of walks and play comes to an end...
When its time, you'll meet across the bend
Even though he's not so near...
His image still remains quite clear
He's just a spirit in the mist...
His innocent face you could never resist
He's just a spirit in the sky...
The time has come for you to say goodbye.......
