Ode to Cinder
by Peggy Conway.........................................
All ears and legs, a gangly pup
To whom hyou just had to cuddle up
It didn't take long, right from the start
He wormed his way into your heart.

Buddy made room, begrudgingly
And watched him grow, amazingly
But Buddy knew over this big drooler
He would always remain the ruler!

Soft and black, a luxurious coat,
Soulful eyes, never remote
He wore his big heart on his sleeve
Kisses to give, toys to retrieve

A happy boy, and rarely naughty
Cinder was "every dog" - never haughty
Any trespasses were soon forgotten
You might say he was spoiled nearly rotten!

He enjoyed his years - all eleven
And now he's playing in doggie heaven
Running and romping, free of pain
He knows he'll see his Mom again

Until that day, Mom keeps him near
His lively bark she'll sometimes hear
Any they can never be far apart
For Cinder lives in his Mom's heart.
