An Ode to Olde Friends
by Pen Overton
An Ode to Olde Friends Give me the touch of a nose. The offering of a paw. Long walks in a forest with kids and grandpups. And, more twinkles of an eye, when bent on hell: Catch me if you can. I have four legs to your two! No, make that twenty-four for the pups in tow. I carried them for nine weeks. You can for eight. Though I hated to show, wouldnt miss-a-one! But gave em hell Harry to no avail, Your co-pilot and official guardian of the van. I gave you my best, and you sight to old eyes. But, look! My best is here and there and here, again, Still around, just waiting to be fed. Penny Overton, Wayfarer Shelties
