A Simple Tribute
by Alayna Murphy
In Memoriam "Devie" Devonshire Von Zeus of the Walls 7/12/76 - 2/3/90 One day you came into my life, my fuzzie little friend, I loved you so and thought our days together would never end... You were always glad to see me, when I'd been away, and all you asked of this old world was love and food and play... Whenever I was feeling low, somehow you always knew. You'd come and lie beside me, your friendship was so true... Then one day your life came to an end, and I had to play a part. I had to have you put to sleep and it nearly broke my heart. Whenever I think of you, I cannot help but cry, for you were my loyal companion, my confidant, my friend... You were my loving protector right up to the end, and if my love could have saved you, you never would have died... You will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives you have touched, and your memory will live forever in my heart til we meet again... Dev, I flew home just a few days before you left me for now from the reservation. Beside the plane you were running free of the pain of the cancer that grew within you and I knew that it was your way of telling me that when I got home that you had to go and it was your time to take that journey without me. Life has been so hard without you here to love and see me through, but now I know I will see you soon as I have developed cancer... Wait for me girl, I am coming soon...May our journey be complete with you once again by my side...
