Coconut Tears
by Alanna Metter
My name is Coconut. I am a gorgeous, silky-smooth, Shih-Tzu. I live in a very nice home with a very nice family. There's daddy, he is gone sometimes during the day though so he doesn't play with me much. Then there's baby. Baby is always making lots of noise and making everyone play with him instead of me. But the one person in my familt tat I love more than anyone else is mommy. Mommy gives me food, water, toys, and love. She never leaves, at least not for very long. she is always there to play with me. I am still a growing puppy and I have a lot to explore in the world and sometimes daddy gets mad at me when I chew things, like his shoes, because my teeth are coming in. He yells at me and tells me I am a bad dog! I am ot a bad dog! Sometimes daddy makes me cry. But mommy always comes and sits by me and pets me. One day, daddy and mommy were talking one night and I heard them say "Coconut." Then daddy started yelling. Before I knew it, the next day, I was in the car, sticking my head out the window, when I smelled some other dogs! Lots of other dogs! When mommy took me out of the car, she brought me into a big building with about 10 other dogs! This was going to be so much fun! I was going to play, then mommy would take me home for my dinner! But I soon realized, after mommy started crying, that she wasn't going to come back. She was leaving me there. At first, it had seemed like fun. But then I noticed the hard concrete floor, and the small cramped cages and I knew I wanted to go home. But the people there wouldn't let me. From then on, I had a very miserable, boring life. I slept on the hard concrete floor, I got fed plain dog food, not the chicken kind like mommy used to give me, and I stayed in a cage all day long. Sometimes I got to come out and play with some nice kids who wanted to take me home, but I always got put back in my cage. It seemed like years that I stayed in that awful place. One day, I woke up and my body hurt from sleeping on the floor. The lady that worked in the building took me out of my cage and started to cry. I didn't know why she was doing that. I gave her a lick and she cried even more. She brought me into a dark room with a scary looking man in it. He had a mask on his face and something in his hand. All of a sudden, I was stapped to a table and I felt a pain in my leg. I started to go to sleep. I tried to wake up, but I couldn't, I just couldn't. I was gone. *I hope this story shows everyone what perfectly good dogs go through when they are unwanted. PLEASE DONT PUT YOUR DOG IN A SHELTER! PUT IT IN A RESCUE! AND HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED!!!!!!!
