Al
by Bill McKibben
I have been treating my two parrots, Al (African Grey) and Toots (specticaled Amizon), for some nasty bacteria with antibiotics. On 3/17, my Grey (Al) vomited. His droppings have been VERY wet and his energy has been down as well as his weight (from 250 gms. to 230 gms.). I had his blood work done on 3/22/02 and the results all point to a failed or damaged kidney. He drinks alot of water, so I replaced it with peiolite (sp) just to help him with his energy level. I understand and am having a GREAT DEAL of hardship dealing with the possiblity that he won't last. I am just being close to him as much as possible until I find out monday 3/25, what the complete story is. He is my baby, my clown, "stinky", and the one that has stuck by me through alot of things.... I am hoping that he will be around for along time, although I am preparing myself ( and letting him know) that he can go if he wants to.
