My Beautiful Beagle Sunny
by Katrina Marquardt
I will always here her beautiful voice,my beagle Sunny. She was 2 and a half years old. She was $200. We got her on spring vacation. We took her to the ocean during this summer. When we were at our camp site, she disappeared. I never felt so scared. My best friend, Megan Chaney, and her brother, Derek Chaney went with us to the ocean.Derek found Sunny in a thorn bush at our campsite after 45 minutes. I was crying. I hugged her. She was all muddy. The whole time we were calling for her, she wanted to come but was stuck on that bush by her collar. On the beach, we ran with her. She chased the sea gulls. She was a wanderer. We let her run at Alpac Elementary.Once she caught a shrew there. Whenever we pass by we think of her velvet soft ears flying in the wind. For Halloween,we dressed her up in a little baby shirt. I wrote drama queen on it. When ever we howled at her, she answered. She wanted to sing. On one night, my mom was at work,Wal*Mart. My brother wanted to go golfing because he didnt finish the night before. My dad took me and my 3 brothers to the golfing range in Kent or Federal Way. I can't remember. When we came home, all the teenagers in our neighborhood came running, staring at us. We didn't know why. We all went on the patio for my dad to unlock the house. As we were waiting, he was at the front window. He saw our curtain hanging out of the window so he lifted it up. Sunny's head was stuck in the window. At first he thought she came to greet us. Then he said "Sunny's dead." One of the teenagers said,"Your dog has been dead for a while." I wanted to tell her to shut up. My dad tried to open the window when we came running to the window. Then we ran back to the patio so my dad could unlock the door. He couldn't find the keys so we went back to the window. He jammed it open and pushed me through the window. As he opened the window, Sunny dropped to the floor. Before he pushed me through, I leaned over and smelled the smell of death. When I was in the house, I unlocked the door and my dad checked to see if she was still alive but she wasn't. She died by her nose hanging through the window. The white dresser was knocked over so we knew she struggled to get loose. She was born November 1,1998. She died November 3,2001,2 days after birthday. We buried her at my mom's friend house.God bless her little heart. I know she went to rainbow bridge because she was a happy dog.She always drooled in our car. We got a new dog, almost 3 months old.She is a beagle named Lady Lou. We got her at the Fairwood PetCenter in Renton. She was $600.Including her stuff. She was born September 12,2001 the day after the WorldTradeCenter Tradgety or Terrorist Attack. We our going to give her a beautiful Christmas. Most importantly, a beautiful and fun life.
