I woke up this morning

I woke up this morning,
Feeling excited for today.
We are going on our field trip
And nothing could get in my way.
I didnt bother looking at my hamster,
For she was fast asleep.
I didnt want to wake her,
So I dressed without a peep.
When we finally got to Seabreeze,
I had a lot of fun.
We rode the rides, had some jokes,
And burned up in the sun!
When I came home
My mom was silent; everyone was white.
But, I figured I would take a swim,
Then get some good sleep tonight.
I went outside to my pool
Only to hear my sister say,
Today, after we got on the bus
Spunky, my hamster passed away
The whole world turned upside-down
With hundreds of tears filling up each eye.
I thought, the only chance I had, I ignored.
I didnt say good-bye.
I woke up this morning,
At the crack of dawn,
Not realizing how much you love someone,
Until they are forever gone.
