by Patty Lager
She would wait by the door when my bus arrived
She screamed with joy as I came inside
She would give you her paw for a bone to eat
She crawled on the bed to lay by my feet
When she was a pup, she crawled up the stairs
So very curious about the love up there
As she grew bigger, we all learned so much
She became our family, our hearts she touched
She had many little silly ways
A screaming bark when I came her way
Nixon, you will live in my heart forever
Where you are now I hope feels better
You deserve all the love you gave us
I send you a kiss and
close my eyes......
I hear your voice and feel a lick on my lips
Your soul is still alive
