I was sitting underneath the rainbow having birthday cake with my uncle Spoofie and uncle Duffy when I heard singing...I looked around and couldn't see anyone. I walked over to the peephole in the cloud where I could look down on my Mommy and I saw her sitting outside watching the fireworks and singing "Happy birthday to Jake". She was crying and it made me feel so sad. I called to Spoofie and told him that Mommy was singing to me and missing me. He looked thru the peephole with me and told me that Mommy would always miss me on my birthday and everyday. He told me that she cried on April 15th too which was his birthday. He said that on that day he visited her in her dreams. When she would lay down to go to sleep..he'd crawl thru the peephole and lie on the bed with her all snuggled up. He said he gave her kisses and let her know that he was still watching her and protecting her. He said that the dream visits let her know how much he still loved her. Jake sat quietly for a minute and said "Uncle Spoofie, will you help me visit Mommy tonight?" Uncle Spoofie said he would take him this second to see his Mommy. Jake was very excited about that and started to jump around. Spoofie said..."follow me" and down the peephole they went. Mommy was sitting on a blanket watching the fireworks explode in the sky. "Oh Jake, How I miss you" she said as tears rolled down her face. Jake looked at Spoofie and asked "how will I let her know I am here?" Spoofie told him that he should do what he always did when he wanted to curl up with her. Jake walked over to his Mommy and around her waist curling himself up against her legs..snuggling his little head in her lap. Mommy looked at the man sitting next to her..."did you feel that?" she asked him. He just looked at her funny and said "what"? Mommy wiped the tears from her eyes and said,"nothing". But she smiled and said very quietly..."happy birthday Jakey-face" I felt her reach down and stroke my fur. She knew that I was there and I was with her. The fireworks were at their finale and the colors were exploding in the sky. Mommy laid back on the blanket and said quietly.."Thank you Jake for letting me know you are still with me" The man looked over at Mommy and told her how peaceful she looked lying there...Mommy just smiled at him and said..."it's been a tough day with missing my Jake...but I just got the strangest feeling that he was lying here with me. Him and Spoofie both. It's such an amazing feeling to feel their love even without being able to see them" The man just looked at Mommy funny. I snuggled myself up to Mommy again and kissed her face as Spoofie walked over to her other side and snuggled his head under her hand. Spoofie looked at Jake and said "C'mon kid...it's time to go back to the bridge. She knows we love her and are with her and I promise I will bring you back to her again." Jake got up slowly and looked at his Mommy. "I love you, Mommy he said and I miss you. I'll be waiting for you until you come to get me..but in the meantime I promise that Uncle Spoofie and I will watch over you and Allie" and the two of them walked away knowing that they had given their person the best gift in the world. The knowledge that no matter what, they would always love her and always be close by.
