My name is Katie Kline and I am going to tell you about a dog who had the life of a king!! We got him when he was a puppy and the reason that we got him was because my dad worked night hours and my mom thought we needed a dog basically for protection. So we went and found this dog and when we went into the house where he was he was sitting in the corner of the kitchen while all the others were playing and well....being puppies. My mom liked him inperticularly because he was sitting in the corner and SEEMED to be mellow. When we brought him home when he was near a year old (maybe not even that long) he had his first sezure. This was a very tramatizing experience for us because we had never seen anything like it before. So when we found out that he was appaleptic and he had to be on phenobarbital twice aday it was upsetting but we got through it.
Well as he got older he wasn't as mellow as he looked and sure was not a watch dog by any meens. His feet were getting huge, he wouldn't hurt a fly, he was a big woose, and he was not mellow. He was one of the most hyper dogs we had ever owned. We grew very attached to this dog, everyone did!! When he was about 7 years old my sister brought home a puppy that she sort of adopted into our family. Well Rosco did not like this puppy at all (he was very jealous) and he began to lick to take away his nervousness caused by the puppy. Over the next couple of weeks after my sister gave the puppy back, Rosco started getting these huge open soars all over his body and head. We took him to the vet and he told us that he had Piroderma which is a skin disease that is very hard to cure. He was on antibiotic for a very long time and it would help until they were all then he would get them right back again. Well a few months ago he was getting really bad he started having sezures (he hadn't in a long time) and he was just really bad. Well we thought we had him fixed and then about two weeks later he got really bad again. We were debating putting him down but thought that was the only opportunity we had. So as hard as it was we did it. It was a very hard thing for us to do because he was definitly part of our family. He was the best dog!! We are all going to miss him terribly!! But everyone keeps telling us.....He feels better now!!
