I got my cocker spaniel, cody, when he was 6 weeks old. at that time i didnt have any friends and so my parents bought me Cody. He was the sweetest and most loving dog, he wasnt perfect but he loved me and my family. i had him almost 4 years earth ended. On january 9th,2001 a month before his 4th birthday his short life on this earth ended. The day started out as any other day. I got up at 9 and got ready for the day. At about 11am my dad and i went outside with cody to the horses. As always he followed us. we have a fenced in yard but have a big gate to our driveway. usually when he was outside we closed it but on this particular day since we werent planning on staying outside long, we decided to leave it open. as we were getting ready to go back into the house, cody heard a truck and trailer coming and since he heard it before he saw it he ran out in front of him and the truck hit him. i ran out to the street cause i saw what happened and his body was laying there motionless. as i got closer i could see a pool of blood around him and his was still bleeding from his nose. upon further examination we noticed that he had broken his neck and was dead. when i saw it i screamed, it seemed like my worst nightmare. to think that a min earlier he was still alive and was now laying in front of me was more than i could comprehend.i carried him to the grass and put him down. i couldnt handle it anymore so i went inside and just cried. i felt hurt as i never felt hurt before. my dad went and got him cremated since the ground was frozen so we coulndnt bury him. it has been just a day since this happened and i cannot describe the pain and loneliness i feel for him. he was my best bud. my loyal friend and now he is gone forever. this is the story of how his short life ended.
