SPARKY
We got Sparky in the Febuary of 1991. He was to be a friend for us who were 3 and 2 at the time. When we got him he was less than 6 weeks old and he was wearing a yellow ribbon around his little neck. My sister and I had to teach him to eat and drink out of a bowl. I think we did pretty good for being so young. Reallly he grew up with us and served as a faithful friend through all the years. One time in the winter of 1994 we had an ice storm and little me wanted to explore the new surroundings outside. As always my buddy Sparky was right behind me. When I was climbing up a hill in my backyard I got a little to high up and the ice started to make me slip. At the bottom of the hill was a stream and some rocks. I was slowy slipping down the high hill but then Sparky grabbed onto my coat and pulled for all it was worth til i got my footing agian and climbed to the top. If he weren't there im sure i could have been seriously hurt or possibly killed in the cold stream. So thanks agian Sparky for that great act! He did many other good things through out the rest of his life like entertain the nieghboring kids and be my sister and I's best friend. I remember the way he would follow me where ever I would go and bark at strangers who came to close to me. Everyone in the nieghborhood always said they wanted a dog like him but he was my wonderful dog and I am still thankful for that. Then on the day of August 25, 2000 my sister her friend Ciarra and me were going to take a walk up to the school and see who their teachers for the up-coming school year would be. And as always Sparky was right there by my side ready for a walk both of us had taken plenty of times before. When the 4 of us got to the road i told Sparky to stay with Nicky but i could tell he didn't want to. I was already across the road when i heard him crying for me to come back. We looked around saw it was a red light and no cars coming either way. We called to him to come and he was coming aross when my sister, Ciarra and I heard screeching tires and then an old man going at least 50 mph on a 35 mph road! And to top it off he ran a red light! Sparky just stood there and we looked in horror as we knew what was about to happen. The 3 of us called back out to Sparky hoping he would come to us and dodge the speeding car but unfortunaly he never came. The car hit him right on but he was never ran over by the tire. Ciarra and I fell to the groud and started crying while my little sister ran out into the middle of the road to try and help our already dead dog. Finally Ciarra and I got a grip and ran out into the road too and kept on coming cars away from him. All of us were crying so much that were hysterical and people thought a person was hit by a car. But to us it was just as bad if not worse that a person being hit. They called the cops and they soon saw it was our dog. All they did was take note of our names and Ciarra's dad took our dead dog and us home. And there he buried Sparky under a pine tree in our backyard that he and us dug together when we were little. I made him a grave marker and our family decorates his grave for christmas and other holidays. For it was like we lost one of our own family members and to this day we still cry over our beloved companion 8 months later but i have a feeling the hurt will be there all of our lives. LOVE YOU SPARKY!!!!- from your family that will never forget you!
