Miss You Little Boy

You were my ray of sunshine
in trying times,
You were always there when
I needed a hug,
You brought Joy and laughter
into my life,
You were there for the good times
as well as the bad,
You would lay by me
night after night,
Never asking for more,
but always giving,
You were so small when
you were 5 weeks old,
But the size was deceiving,
When you grew up,
you were very big indeed,
big as a lion,
but gentle as a kitten,
When I trimmed your nails
you would growl,
but you never pulled away,
always trusting that I would never
hurt you,
I spoiled you with all of the
love and tenderness I had,
But you always returned it,
showing me a love that was
pure and unconditional,
The last minutes of the night
you would climb all over me,
wanting my attention,
Then you would lay beside me,
with my arm tucked gently around you,
and your soft white paw laying gently
upon my face,
The mornings found you grumpy,
growling when I moved,
And I would move you over,
telling you to stay there,
that I would return and cuddle a little more,
Now you are gone,
there will be no more growls,
no more soft paws on my cheek,
You looked at me that last day,
asking me to let you go,
with much hesitation and pain,
I did as you asked,
The sorrow inside of me is great,
for the loss of such a friend,
But you will always be in my heart,
Tommy As My Very Best Friend.
