For Jonny
by Joseph DiNovi
For Jonny

He was small in size, but mighty in heart,
A blur of fur before the day could start.
A spark of chaos, a loyal spark too,
A crazy little Yorkie who somehow just knew.

Adopted love is a special kind,
Chosen by fate, then sealed in time.
From that first day, a promise was made—
Best friends forever, no matter the grade.

When the world grew quiet, too heavy to bear,
You held him close, you stayed right there.
No fear alone, no final fright,
Just your heartbeat guiding him into the light.

Your hands were home, your voice was peace,
A love so strong it didn’t cease.
In that last moment, soft and true,
He left this world knowing only you.

Now Jonny runs where the small dogs fly,
No leash, no pain, just endless sky.
Still wild. Still loved. Still by your side—
A best friend waiting, with joy and pride.

Because love like that does not end that day.
It simply learns a different way. 🐾💙
