BROOZER "PUPS"

BROOZER "PUPS"

My dear friend, how I miss you so
I never ever wanted to let you go
Though I knew this day would come
I'll never forget our days of fun
I still remember that Christmas morning
In you trotted without any warning
With that little red ribbon around your neck
It was then I knew I had a new furry friend
It wasn't easy bringing you through that snow
You were so tiny, you had no place to go
Days went by and school continued
I remember waving goodbye through the side windows
It broke my heart when I locked you away
Even though I'd come back that very same day
Your cute little face and little black nose
All the way down to your fuzzy little toes
Months went by and turned into years
Which have now turned into a bucket of tears
My dear friend, I don't want to let go
But it's hard not to let my emotions show
For all those soda bottles your tore apart
You'll always hold a special place in my heart
You developed a habit when you were just a pup
Taking all Dad's 2x4's and chewing them up
Broozer, my first dog, my first Best Friend
For now I'll let go until we meet again
The time has come for us to part
Please know you had my love from the start
Nobody said this was going to be easy
I just didn't know I'd be so weepy
What's best for you is that I set you free
And let you begin your new journey
I'll say goodbye just this one last time
But I can't promise that I won't cry
My dear friend, I must now let go
For you have now crossed over the rainbow
