"Mom, I want a new cat",I said not knowing the paths to follow my move. See my other cat Salem ran away, she was gone for a long time, so we thought she was dead."Well, might as well",my mom said almost bursting into tears. We hopped into the van crying, little salty tears running down our eyes.
We were there, do we dare to replace our beloved Salem, yes, we must, it will help us recover our loss of her. As we walked into my uncle's, Charlie (their dog) greeted us, thought of all the precious memberies of her. I rang the doorbell, only to see uncle Kevin's smileing face. My mom called him before we went, so he knew what was our reason to be visiting."Come on in, see our five 6 week-old kittens", he said showing us the way. What I can remember, walking into his kitchen, seeing that little tabby head sticking out of the box."I want that one, mom",I said making the biggest mistake of my life. I pulled her out of of the box,oh how frightened the little one was. She had the cutest little white rings around her eyes."Is it a boy or girl?"I asked sratching her chin."Boy" he said assuringly."Wow my first boy cat",I said over and over in my mind.He gave us a box on our way out.We hopped into the van but this time with no tears in our eyes. We stopped at my friends house on our way. Her eyes filled with tears and joy.
We brought her home, I sat down in the office, and right behind me was my little kitten. She couldn't get up, so I lifted her on to the desk. She curled up behind the mouse, while I was searching for her identedy. My mom said "Rocky",and my dad said "Zorro", but I said "Louie". She peaked at me, as if she loved the name. The first night she was a little shakey, but she purred anyway, knowing that she'd be alright.
The next day Salem came back, know I had two cats to care for. My dad didn't like it, but he said I could still keep him.
He knew how much I bonded with him.
I remember getting off the bus, I looked in the neighbor's ditch, and I thought I saw Louie dead by a tree. I ran in side my house, and saw Louie hiding behind the furniture.Oh, how she frightened me that day. The figure in the ditch that I saw was just a stick.
The more that I thought about Louie going to be an inside/outside cat the more I wanted him to see the world with me. So I took him outside to explore a little. I wanted him to smell the fresh flowers. So I told him to sit right there while I get him some daisies. I came back, and she wasn't there. I panicked, while I looked around. Finally I found her in the garage, under my mom's van. O how my heart stopped that 5 minutes she was out of my sight.
The next few months were fine. My mom started letting her outside before she was fixed, since she was too young to have babies. I was little nervous, but I knew she was safe with my brother's cat Tucker outside too.
She and Tucker would wrestle all day, and he was alot bigger , but he never hurt her. They were two peas in a pod. They came from the mother, but Tucker was born a litter before Louie.
A few days later my mom took Louie to the vet, and when I came home my she said she had big news for me.She told me everything that happened today at the vet.The news was that Louie was a girl.
Then,a few night later Louie jumped in bed with me, trying to nurse out of my armpit. My mom tucked us in, kissed us, and turned out the light. I didn't fall asleep 'till 9:00, Louie was trying to keep me up, but I fell asleep anyway.
That night I had a dream, me and Louie were sitting on the couch. Then my brother brought a bee hive, they scrambled all around us, while stinging us both.
I woke up to find that I was dreaming. I got out of bed, and got ready for school. Today is a new day, I had this outfit all picked out. I couldn't wait for music, and the lunch I was going to have, mmmmm....,yummy.
We walked to the van, and jumped in. We went up the street, and stopped at a stop sign. I looked out my window, and I saw something. I thought it was a stick, but then I took a second look and it was Louie in the ditch.
"Louie",I yelled at the top of my lungs. My mom told me to stay in the van. I did, she walked over there. I prayed and prayed hoping that she'd be alright. My mom bent down, felt her, and turned around to look at me, and she shook her head.
I wasn't able to go to school that day, I was too sad.
