Leo the Lion
by Jamie Gravos.........................................
I remember when my father came home with a furry little bundle. Our whole family fell in love with him right away. A black toy poodle, but he did not act like a poodle. He was not high strong, he did not yip. His personality was just the opposite, he was very laid back. This was around the Ninja Turtle time, so we named him Leonardo Donatello. Leo was the runt of the litter but had a large presence. Shortly afterwards, my grandfather became sick and passed away, Leo was a Gods send to our family. He made everything alright and easier to cope because he demanded our attention. Our family allowed him to take over. It was often said, "What Leo wants, Leo gets". Everything about him was enduring. When I would try to practice tennis against the garage door, Leo would still my ball and I would spend most of the time chasing him to get it back. We would play hide and seek. My mother would cover his eyes while I hid. Then she would say,"where's Jamie" and he would search the whole house till he found me. He had a garfield attitude and knew he was the boss. At night he would sleep with me. Yes, he was a bed hog. I always woke up pinned against a wall, while Leo was spread out like a king. And that is what he was, our king, our prince, our knight in shining armor.
We recently found out the Leo had an enlarged heart and failing kidneys. He refused to eat. We knew what had to be done.

We never owned Leo, he owned us. He had so much human personality that we loved him like a son and brother. He will always be in our hearts. I truely beleive that he stayed for so long because he was so loved. Leo passed on Jun 9th 2006 at Noon he was 16. He was buried at home in a box built by dad, with a picure of us girls, his favorite stuffed animal and a letter from mom. We are still grieving.

Leo, God broke the mold after he made you. We all miss you terribly, I can't wait to see you again, save me a spot in heaven.
Love always Jamie
