My Angel
by Carolyn Huntington
Kitty was from a litter of my kittens. I gave her away and she was given back to me a year later. She wasn't one of my favorite kittens. She was always clawing the minnie blinds, trying to get out. She was a weird cat. I thought this isn't going to work. She started warming up to me and she would talk to me all the time. She started getting on the back of a chair or the couch and would lay her paw on my shoulder. She followed me everywhere. I had to have a bone marrow transplant and would get so depressed about my bald head and being sick all the time. She would come to me during those times. And I'm sure was trying to comfort me in her own cat way. After I was pronounced cleared of my cancer, she left me. One night she was outside and I called her in and she hesitated at the door and backed up like she wasn't ready to come in. Later I called for her to come in and there was no response. The next day I stayed home from work and went searching for her. My husband was home thank God. Cause I found her in a ditch across the street dead. She appeared to be trying to climb out of the ditch but died before she could. I froze and yelled to my husband and he got her and placed her in a box and buried her. Before he placed her in the ground he laid upon her box and cried. Her mother was hit a year before and we placed her beside her. I feel she was given back to me to give me confort and help me get through my ordeal. I have read the Rainbow Bridge and I have it hanging on my wall with all my babies pictures including Kitty and her mother. I no longer let my other cats out now. We have a cat enclosure now built so they can go out side. I feel she had earned her wings and went to Rainbow Bridge where she is with her mother and someday I'll see her again.
