My Shep
by Jackie Hautamaki
Shep came to our house as a tiny 7 week old black ball of fur - headed for the Dog Pound, but rescued by my son to give to me to take care of. I didn't want a dog, because i already had an independent 21 year old cat who owned the house but accepted the puppy to save his life. The years of pleasure given to me by that dog are unmeasurable. He was the most beloved of animals, and made my house a home. I was fortunate to have this precious dog for just over 12 years when it became apparent that his trip over the "Rainbow Bridge" was due. I loved him enough to see that his life ended before the suffering became unbearable for both of us and still see his gorgeous face when i close my eyes. I could never love another that deeply.
