SAMMY
by Kathleen Grueter
SAMMY You greeted us when we came home So we would never feel alone The camping trips we used to take Remember the one to Moosehead Lake The thunderstorms that God would send Would make you think the world would end The squirrels that thought teasing you was fun Soon realized that they had better run You loved to go for a swim in the lake But we had to run before you would shake The day you decided to go to school I don't think the principle thought it was cool Remember the day you hid in the dryer Or when you went for a swim and tore the pool liner You always loved to ride in the car Even when we didn't go far Do you remember the day that we met Even Jessica knew you were our pet Even the day we brought home the cat At Jessica's door you just sat The day that you chewed the cord to the pool Even Dad thought you were still cool But now you must leave us after 12 years All of our memories have turned into tears To Sammy The worlds greatest dog You will not be forgotten Jessica, Billy and Timmy
