Gone But Always Close To My Heart

Puppy - May 27, 1968 to August 5, 1985; She was the runt of the litter when we got her, she was half cocker spaniel and half sheep dog. Puppy and I grew up together, she was and always will be a very special part of my life. A couple of memories I have of Puppy is when she ran away to Grandma's house. She had dug out of the fence in the backyard one afternoon and we looked for her the rest of the day. During the middle of the night my mom, who had been up worried about her, receive a phone call from my grandma. Puppy had just arrived at Granny's house a few minutes ago soaking wet (it was pouring down rain). Mitzzey (Granny's dog) heard Puppy outside, woke up Granny who found Puppy waiting at the door to come in. Whoever heard of a dog running away to Grandma's house?! Puppy had rode in the car several times to Granny's house which was 12 blocks away from home! Anyway, Puppy was dried off, fed and sound asleep by the time we arrived to pick her up to take her home. Dad took the fence down in the backyard the next day and Puppy never ran away from home again. Another incident with her was late one night she was chasing a squirrel and got bit by it. She was bleeding and hurt bad. We called the vet, he said give her two aspirin and call me in the morning! Puppy loved to go for walks, play in the snow, chase rabbits and go for rides in the car. We had 17 wonderful years with her before we had to have her put to sleep. She will always be my "Woofy", my pet name for her. Wobbles - December 24, 1985 to April 24, 2000; He was only six weeks old when we got him, he was half miniature poodle and half peek a poo. Wobbles loved everybody and all the other animals we had as well. He loved to take a person's sock or shoe off their foot, shake it in his mouth and growl at it. He loved playing tug of war with you. I would always pull him up off the ground and he was still holding onto that sock or toy for dear life, never letting to. I would always get yelled at, "You're going to pull his teeth out!". He loved going for walks and ride in the car. Wobbles had cancer the last two years of his life but never let that slow him down. In the end, the cancer had spread, and we had to have him put to sleep when he was 14. He was born on Christmas Eve and put to sleep around Easter time. He will always be our special boy! Sherlock - 1992 - April 9, 2004; Sherlock is a resident of Rainbow Bridge. I was his Mommy, I didn't share him with anybody so that is why he holds an extra special place in my heart. He was a year old when I got him at the animal shelter. Sherlock loved chasing mice, ducks and snakes. He had to stick his nose into everything so his name Sherlock (like Sherlock Holmes) fit him perfectly. He was happy and lived life to the fullest. He had heart problems the last two years of his life and succumbed to heart disease. He will always be my baby boy. Pudgy was my first and only hamster. I think his favorite past time was when he was in his exercise ball and would go all over the room. That used to drive Puppy nuts! We have had other cats through the years, but through tragedies we only had them for a short while, but the time we had them, they were very happy and gave us so much love and joy. To Patches, Tom, Tiger, Cheeta and Mr. Katt, we love you so much!!
