Love Always Returns
by Lisa French
I would like to share a story with everyone that has helped me to smile a little brighter since losing my wonderful dog Max on 11/16/03. I work with people who have been injured at work. For the last two years a dear woman, Barbara, has become very special to me. She was injured 20 years ago and after years of steroid injections has had many complications. She has struggling with bone cancer for years and recently they had to stop chemo for her sick body can't take it any longer. Never has she complained. She would always ask about my sick dog, knowing how much I loved and worried over him. Over the years I learned of her life, a little girl abandoned by her mother and passed around through foster care. Her one happy memory was of a doll her father has given her, Beany Boy. Her sister had thrown away in an angry moment. She knew that I do a little selling on E-bay and had asked me many times to look for him. Finally, one night I was searching and I started to find several Beany dolls. They were 54 year old dolls from Mattel and selling $80.00 but one was listed wrong and I purchased him for 8.00 wow, what luck. He had a ripped hand and was needed a good cleaning but he still talked and had his little propeller on his hat, I was excited. Last week, I finally was schedule to meet with her. With puffy red eyes, common to grieving pet owners, I packed up Beany Boy and gave him to her. She was so happy. She mentioned his hand it torn just like her old doll. The next morning, she called me at home crying. She said,"Lisa you will never know what this means to me. I went home and started to clean up Beany boy and felt something in deep in his pocket. I had put a penny in his pocket when I was little, I shared everything with him. When I reached down in his pocket there was an old penny. MY Beany Boy, my best freind when I was little has come back to me. He even has the soup stain on his knee I remember. I spent all night rocking him in my arms, so happy." At first I found this hard to believe, I made her husband confirm it. These days I smile a little brighter, Barbara has her beloved boy and I know all love always returns in one form or another. Our beloved furbabies await us, with all the love we showered on them. Peace to all.
