March 20, 2002 I was faced with the decision that all pet owners fear. The vet could not say for sure if it was cancer of an infected tooth, either way due to his heart murmur, surgery was not an option, so the decision became clear. After 15 years of unconditional love and companionship, my beloved Rocky went to be with Grandma in Heaven. Rocky had been my best friend for the past 15 years and together we had been through alot. I adopted Rocky when he was eight weeks old. He was a talker right from the start. My favorite memory of him as a young pup was watching him sleep - you see being a Lab mix, he had very long legs - it was just adorable how he slept with his legs sticking straight out. Eventually he did grown into them legs. Rocky had lots of nick names over the years, such as "RockyDog", "Momma's Baby Boy", "Rock Dogster" and many others. Rocky leaves behind his beloved cat Bob, which he adopted. She will miss him dearly, as well as his other cat sisters Binx, Zoe and Cleo as he was - till the day he died, their protector from his 1 year old dog sister Mollie Mae.
I think of Rocky and the pain is still there, but I know that time will heal my wounded heart. I miss him and still cry for my loss - but I know that he will be at the gates waiting for me when I leave this human world.
I love you Rock Dog.
