Today my husband and I went to The Cotton Festival. As we entered the arts and crafts building who should I see but a miniature red long haired daschaund. Being a doxie owner myself I started talking to the lady holding him. She told me that our animal rescue organization that was there for pet adoption had asked her to hold the dog since it was becoming very hot outside. I asked if I could hold the dog and it was love at first sight. This little dog clung to me for dear life and I was falling more and more in love by the second. The lady told me that this little baby had been found wandering and the dog catcher had picked him up. After a week it was decided that it was time to euthanize him. It just so happened a person from the animal rescue association went to the shelter and decided the dog would go with her and be put up for adoption. As I was holding the dog all I could think about was this would be dog number 4 for me plus the cat and whoever he decided to bring home with him but I had just about made up my mind to take him when a woman asked if she could see my dog. I explained his situation and she told me she had a friend who had lost her dog and then her husband. She called her friend and within 5 minutes she was there. I handed the dog to her and could tell right away that there was no way I could take the dog home. It was love at first sight for both of them. As my husband and I were driving home I cried that within the space of 1 hour 2 people had fell in love with one little dog. Surely he had been someones pet. Why didnt they move heaven and earth to find him? I know that these two will bring each other joy and love. The animal association had name him Sedgewick, I do not know what his new owner named him but in my heart I named him Lucky.
