My heart it has been broken,
The pieces will not mend,
For I have lost my sweet,devoted,
Gentle,loyal friend.
And so it is with tears and love,
I send this list up there,
Of how I hope things are for you,
While in another's care.
In Springtime give her sunshine,
With soft breezes blowing by,
Some pretty,fragrant flowers,
A soft,grassy place to lie.
In Summer let her sit with you,
Upon the porch out front,
To watch a storm come rolling in,
Or find a bug to hunt.
In Autumn put the top down,
And take her for a ride,
Down country roads and to the lake,
She'll want you by her side.
In Winter light a blazing fire,
She doesn't like the cold,
She'll lie there basking in the warmth
Of flames of red and gold.
And every day please tell her,
Of how I love her so,
How hard it was to say goodbye,
How hard to let her go.
