Callie
by Dante
Callie, you were a beautiful cat and the perfect friend. You were sweet, caring, stubborn, feisty, and strong, and everything to me.

I loved the way you laid in the sun, the way you got comfortable and rolled onto your back so you could feel it. I'll never not think of you when I see the sun coming through the window that way.

I loved your pretty little face, the way you would make crazy eyes and make me laugh, your slow blinks, and the way you pressed it into me when you loved me.

I loved how sweet you are. Anytime I invited anyone over you were so happy to see people and give them love. Anytime I got home and went to my room you were so happy to see me too, and it felt so nice to have someone happy to see me every day.

I even loved how feisty you were. It always made me laugh, I made jokes about it, you were often my favorite topic, and I made other people love you too just by talking about you. You really were that amazing.

I know that I'm even going to miss the way you tapped my face a few times to see if you could before you swatted at me and the way you would get me from under the bed when I was pacing my room.

I loved how caring you were and the way you were always there for me when I was upset, the way that you would meow at me until I laid down and then lay on my chest, the way you were on my chest every night regardless.

Sleeping is going to be hard, knowing that I can't wrap my arms around you while you lay on my chest and pet you like every night before now. But I'm going to try to use every moment I notice you missing to appreciate the way you were there.

You will always be such a significant, important part of my life and who I am. The ways you were there for me will affect my nervous system forever. I have no doubt that I'll still want something heavy on my chest every time I cry.

I'm so grateful that you were there for me that way and that I got to spend so many years with you. I promise there will always be love for you in this world, even if you're not in it, as long as I'm living.
