Candi

March 1889-August 16th 2001 Candi was a yellow lab retriever mix. She loved my dad the best but she loved me too. We always used to joke that she only loved me n dad and that mom was "yack" and needed to have food to get her to like her. When we found out seh got heartworms it was very sad and we tried treatment but it didnt work. We soon found out she also had cancer and we couldnt treat her because the heartworms would stop her heart if she was put under. So we let her live and the tumor on her back leg grew bigger within 3 years it was huge and we knew the time would come. so on August 16th it popped and bled everywhere yet she still wanted to jsut stay home. It didnt seem to hurt her but we knew we must put her down. So we took her to the vet and we were all crying already. They gave her a tranquilzer since she hates the vet then we all talked to her and told he we loved and they put her down. We still stayed there and i petted her velvet ears. The car ride home was spent silent and getting home was terrible. The house was empty and we expected to see her on the couch and jump down and clip-clop across the floor to greet us. For days it seemed terrible...the house was lonely. Soon my dad found a lab rescue and founda little dog named Hope. that got into a dog fight at 2 weeks and was now 2 months old. We didnt want another dog...but we agreed on getting her. We felt she was no Candi but she was good. Her name was Hope but we call her Hopey. She'll never be what Candi was...but she'll do. I hope this story touches someone who has a friend jsut as special as Candi. I love you candi girl..me and daddy miss you terribly.
