Optic Seeker
by Jean Czemski
As a horse and rider, we seemed doomed from the start, But you managed to work your way right into my heart. You were so big and yet so young, with many lessons yet to be taught. You always tried my patience with the antics that you wrought. And I was still young myself, so similar to you. And that I could even ride you was too good to be true. Our time together was ever so short, lazy summers filled with riding. But I do think that it was you that brought out the rider in me shining. But we were such a mix-matched pair; though not in hate you brought me pain. My right hand you did kick; my left wrist you did sprain. And so I had to let you go for we just weren't meant to be And then the life you lived was happier, and that's enough for me. Now, for good, you've left the world, but your picture's still on my wall. How were you, one so great, killed by something so small?************* Sleep well, my gentle giant.
