We got our little Minty from Jo's shelter in November 1997. She and her friend Merri (The Parking Lot Girls) were found abandoned in a parking lot on a cold winter night - they both had colds, matted fur, and were all skin and bones, plus their water dish was frozen solid ice. Knowing Mint and Merri's sad history, my husband Bryan and I vowed that they'd never be cold or hungry again so we spoiled them with furry hammocks, toys, and plenty of kisses and hugs.
When Mint got diagnosed with a liver problem about a month ago, we did all that we could to revive her with vet visits, medications, everything, but she never really regained her former vigor. She died on my lap as we were taking her in for emergency treatment on December 22, 2002.
Mint was a great ferret - I called her a little manipulator because she used people as tools to get what she wanted or to get where she wanted to go. She seemed very delicate but she could wrestle with our rough and tumble Esef and win and she was one of the only ferrets who stood up to the cat. She could jump twice as high as her height - I realize over the past year that she hadn't jumped at all. She was a really beautiful butterscotch sable with the most luxurious fur anyone had ever felt. I cry thinking how I'll never be able to pet her or kiss her again. Love from Sandy, Bryan, Glenn, Esef, Merri, and Albi
